The much-anticipated new app for Facebook has arrived. Version 5.0 states:
We’ve rebuilt the app so it’s faster and easier to use.
- Scrolling through news feed is faster than ever.
- New banner lets you tap to quickly see more stories – no need to refresh.
- Photos open fast and close with one downward swipe.
- Instant access to your notifications.
The previous Facebook app was built using a different platform than most iOS apps and performance suffered tremendously as a result. Earlier this year, Facebook promised a new app built using the native iOS platform and this is the result.
Facebook’s newsroom goes on to say that, “Today we’re announcing an update to the Facebook app for iPhone and iPad that makes keeping up with friends faster and easier.”
Facebook 5.0 continues to provide full iPad support which was added in version 4. All Facebook users are encouraged to download or update their app and give it a try. Let us know what you think about the new Facebook for iOS!
