Vine, the 6-second video creation and sharing network owned by Twitter, has released a major update to their service that dramatically improves user’s capability for finding and discovering great video. According to Vine’s blog, “This is our biggest, most exciting update yet — and we’ve got even more coming soon.”
Channels
Vine users can now submit new videos to 15 new channels, and of course browse submissions from other users. Channels include Comedy, Art & Experimental and more. This will help users get their videos in front of more people, regardess of whether or not they’re previously connected.
On The Rise
Similar to the Recommended on Google+, you’ll be able to see videos that are trending and popular.
Revining
And like a Twitter ReTweet, you can instantly reshare a video you like with your own Vine followers in one tap.
New Capture Tools
Vine’s focus is on capturing great video, so it’s great to see continued updates and improvements with the video capture tool. It now includes a new focus, grid and ghost tools.
Protected Accounts
Concerned about privacy? You can now protect your account and videos and ensure that only the people who follow you can view your videos.
On the heels of Instagram’s announcement and release of 15 second video, Vine needs to continue to innovate and improve to remain relevant.
