I’ve talked before about a project that I’m working on, The Athena Project, where we’re building a tool specifically designed to help bloggers and entrepreneurs. We’ve been talking to folks for weeks, collecting insights into common issues, and now we’ve got something to show you.
We want you to be a Beta Tester. You’ll get insider access to see the tool in progress, and the opportunity to test and use it yourself when it’s ready. Not only do we think you’ll get value out of the tool, but you’ll be able to help mold it into something truly great.
While there are lots of ways bloggers and entrepreneurs will be able to use what we’ve built, the primary uses we’ve identified are:
- Identifying what your business should focus on.
- Identifying the kinds of topics you should create pages and blog content for.
- Identifying ways to optimize your content for search engines.
If you’ve struggled with some of these, or are just interested in seeing what we’re up to, we’d love to show you.

The Athena Project is a small team of three people, myself, a WordPress expert, and a plugin developer. We’ve all started our own businesses at one time or another, and we’ve all struggled to get started. Our goal is to create a tool and system that will help entrepreneurs and bloggers get to the finish line faster.
We are proceeding using the Lean Startup methodology. We started with “Problem Interviews” where we talked with business owners and bloggers and, well, anyone who would talk to us, and explored their top issues and how they’d solved them. Or hadn’t, as the case may be.
Once we’d proceeded through enough problem interviews to know that we were truly on to something, we set up a demonstration of our solution and that’s where we’re at now. We want to show people what we’ve come up with, describe how it might be used, and find out what we may have missed. We’ll make changes and improvements and keep talking to people until it’s clear there’s sufficient demand for the tool.
But we still won’t be ready to launch.
The final step is to let people use and try the tool themselves. Only then will be able to observe and measure where there are delays or gaps and then iterate.
The “tool” is an interesting and unique combination of a website software as a service (SaaS), documentation and training, and a WordPress plugin that integrates the website tool and information into your own business website and blog. As we proceed through this process of interviews and testing and iteration, expect to see more details about what we’re developing in this space.
