HootSuite, the social media management tool, has issued an update for their iOS app for iPhone and iPad. The update brings the app to version 2.5.1 and addresses a number of minor bugs and issues.
Updates:
- Improved app performance on iPad
- Improved image loading speed in stream views
Bug fixes:
- Retweet should be working for iPad users
- Scroll to top when tapping stream title header is fixed for iPad users
- Fixed the issue of displaying web pages on iPad when tapping links in messages
- Fixed the issue of losing tab position after closing a web view
- Fixed the issue of incorrect push notification texts
- Restored all push notification types
Most notable is the resolution of the Notification issue. As some readers noted previously, if users activated Notifications from HootSuite, the notifications to their phones would fail to include any text or indication of what the notification was for, and instead simply said “TM.” This made notifications essentially worthless and most, myself included, simply left them deactivated.
Now, however, not only have I reactivated notifications from within HootSuite, I have actually deactivated them entirely for the Twitter app and am using HootSuite 100% as my Twitter tool. Thanks to the new look and improved functionality of the HootSuite app, I can honestly say that I am using and enjoying Twitter more than in previous months.
Turn On and Modify HootSuite Notifications
Open your updated HootSuite app and tap on the gear icon to access your Settings. Tap on Notifications, and you’ll see all connected Twitter accounts. The app does not currently support notifications for any other networks.
Note that after the update, all notifications will reset to Off by default, so if you were using notifications before, you’ll need to jump into the settings again.
Tap any Twitter account and choose whether or not you want to be notified of Mentions, Direct Messages, Retweets, Favorites, New Followers or Added to List.
You can also set a Quiet Time, just like Do Not Disturb within iOS, where no notifications will be displayed.
If you want to adjust how notifications are rendered or if there’s a sound, that’s all within the iOS notification center settings, just like other apps.
