Are your Pinterest notifications suddenly out of control? Are you getting ‘messages’ each and every time you or someone else pins to a Group Board?
Yeah, I was too.
What you may have missed is that Pinterest turned on notifications for Group Board activity to help facilitate more interaction and engagement among board members. It seemed like a great idea… until some of us became overwhelmed with the volume of notifications.
I’m a membed of about a dozen Group Boards and with the notifications all turned on by default, I began to see 50+ notifications a day.
And I hate extraneous notifications. They’re nothing more than social spam.
Fortunately, Pinterest has added the capability to turn off those notifications, either for individual boards or for all. (This feature is being rolled out, so don’t panic if you don’t see it yet.) Here’s how.
Disable Pinterest Board Notifications
Currently, this setting is only available via desktop, not mobile, so log into your Pinterest account using a desktop browser and go to your Settings.
- Scroll Down about halfway through the page or click on Notifications in the left side.
- Click on the Pick which group boards you hear about button.
- Toggle off individual boards, or toggle Any group board to turn off all notifications.
- Click on Save Settings within the board list.
And that’s it! Turn that off and you’ll stop seeing all of those notifications.
Again, go into your settings:
Then call up all your group boards and toggle as needed.
Of course, if you’re using a Pinterest board to collaborate on something, the notifications could be particularly useful. So give some thought to which ones you enable/disable.
