I have talked many times about the HootSuite Hootlet, that Chrome browser extension that makes sharing and scheduling content tremendously easy. With the extension installed, sharing an article that you’ve written or found is as easy as clicking a button in your browser toolbar.
And now it’s even faster. And easier.
HootSuite has updated their extension today making it twice as fast as before. They’ve also redesigned the user interface to give it a new look with larger, bolder buttons so that it’s even easier to share or schedule your posts.
If you haven’t used it yet, the Hootlet is, quite simply, awesome. Once installed, you can be on any website or even a Google+ post, and simply click that extension button to open a HootSuite sharing dialogue, just as if you were in your HootSuite dashboard. But what makes the Hootlet particularly powerful is that is pre-populates the sharing dialogue with the title of the page you’re on and a shortened link to that URL.
Loading up the dialogue box with the title and shortened URL is what’s gotten the speed boost.
Above the description field is an easy drop down list of your connected social profiles. If you’ve set any of them to be “pinned” then those social profiles will already be selected for you! That means that queuing up content for your Twitter account take take just seconds.
You can share posts immediately, schedule them for a later date, or let HootSuite share them at the optimum time using the AutoSchedule option, which is what I normally do.
The last release of the Hootlet also included some amazing integration with Google search and other sites, like offering a slodeout look at related Tweets to whatever you’re searching on. If you haven’t already, be sure to load up the HootSuite extension for Chrome here.
In the meantime, if you haven’t yet started using HootSuite, I would encourage you to dive into my series on HootSuite: How to Make the Most of Your HootSuite Account, where we cover the basics like setting up your dashboard and scheduling content, to more advanced topics like Teams and more.
