When Google enabled the creation and proliferation of Google+ Communities, they did indeed proliferate. In addition to general topic communities, countless other communities sprang up revolving around niche topics and questions, people and businesses, and anything else you might imagine. And since Google continues to make improvements to the communities and moderation tools, community use and growth remains strong.
One problem though is that it’s hard to find great communities. Google+ will certainly recommend some communities for you based on your activity to date, and those are a great start. If you post and comment a lot about Apple, like I do, I’m sure you might enjoy the Cult of Mac Community. And you can look for new communities by using the Search tool at the top of the Communities page, but what if you’re not sure what to look for? What if there’s a great community out there for you that maybe isn’t related to comments you’ve made previously?
Here is a growing list of the best Google+ Communities out there. What do we mean by best? These are communities that are active, engaging, and relatively free from spammers. The initial list was made up of communities that I am personally a member of, but thanks to List.ly, if you know of a great community that isn’t already listed, add it! Simply click on the Add To List button and paste in a link to your community (list additions will be moderated purely to prevent spam).
Check out these communities and join any that fit your interests! And definitely add any you think should be listed. You can also vote up or down communities that you agree, or disagree, to help rank the best Google+ Communities.
